Privacy Notice — Eight Gates Palm Reading (palm.eightgates.me)

What we process

Your palm photo, and the geometric features we derive from it, to write your reading.
Optionally, one line you write about what is on your mind, if you choose to add it — read together with your palm, then discarded like the photo.
Optionally, your date of birth and email address, if you choose to add them.
If you opt in to donate, your palm photo and minimal non-biometric records (a donation ID, date, locale, consent version) — see 'Donation & Training'.

Solely to generate your palm reading (and, if you subscribe, to email it and occasional readings/tips). We do not use your photo to identify you. Donated photos, if you opt in, are used for the purposes described in 'Donation & Training'.

If you write a line, it is sent to the same AI provider with your photo, used only to write your reading, and is not stored by us.
To write the reading, your photo and features are sent to a third-party cloud AI provider based in the United States. Under our paid API terms, your image is NOT used to train their models; any short-term retention by that provider is solely for abuse-prevention. We are pursuing a zero-retention configuration.
If you subscribe, your email address and (if provided) date of birth are sent to a third-party email delivery provider (ESP) based in the United States, used only to send your readings and to let you unsubscribe.
For your reading, we (Eight Gates) do not store your photo and do not keep it in our logs — it is discarded immediately after your reading is written. The only exception is if you explicitly opt in to donate your photo (see 'Donation & Training' below and our Retention & Destruction Schedule).

If you opt in after your reading, we keep your donated palm photo and minimal non-biometric records (a donation ID, date, locale, consent version, and a training-use flag). We do not attach your name, email, or IP.
Purpose: to re-check reading accuracy and to train Eight Gates' own palm-line detection models. We never use donated photos to identify you, do not sell them, and do not use them for advertising.
Storage & destruction: donated photos are stored only in Japan and are not transferred abroad. We keep and destroy them per our published Retention & Destruction Schedule (quality-check copy within 90 days; training-set copy within 24 months; backups within 35 days).
Withdrawal: you can withdraw and request deletion anytime with your donation ID (hello@eightgates.me). Deleting the photo stops any future use; models already trained cannot be un-trained.
Illinois: donation is not offered to Illinois residents.

Adding your birth date/email is optional. You can unsubscribe from emails at any time.
Consent: you give consent by checking the box on the consent screen before your palm is read.
International transfer: to write your reading, your photo/features are processed in the United States by our AI provider. The United States has no single comprehensive data-protection law equivalent to the EU or Japan; it relies on sector-specific laws and mechanisms such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, and our provider processes your data under contractual data-protection commitments. This information is provided before you consent; by continuing you consent to this transfer. (Donated photos, if you opt in, are stored only in Japan and are not transferred abroad.)
Retention & deletion: we keep your email and (if provided) date of birth only while you are subscribed. You can ask us to access or delete them at any time (GDPR access/erasure; APPI retained personal data). Donated photos, if you opt in, are kept and destroyed per our Retention & Destruction Schedule; you can request deletion anytime with your donation ID.
Illinois (BIPA) note: unless you explicitly opt in to donate your photo (see 'Donation & Training' and the Retention & Destruction Schedule), we do not retain your palm image or its features after your reading, and we do not use them to identify you or as a biometric identifier.
